I don’t think it’s the lack of girl clothes and makeup that are the issue. In this picture, at least, she looks very…comely. She’s not very pretty. You can take a pretty woman, put her in non-girly or even disgusting clothes, and give her the same haircut or worse, and chances are, she’ll still be pretty.

I’d say that’s pretty much true. Some boys can’t seem to get past the idea that women don’t exist purely for their pleasure, or that a lot of women don’t even *want* to fit into some narrow concept. Maybe she does look like a hobbit to some people, but as I recall a WHOLE LOT OF GIRLS thought those hobbits were awfully cute.
