Wendy’s dates back to 1969, Pippi Långstrump (in english Longstocking) dates back to 1944. Written by swedish author Astrid Lindgren and translated into 89 different languages. Wether or not the founder of Wendy’s or whatever had a daughter that looked exactly like Pippi I don’t know…but the girl on the Wendy’s logo looks like Pippi NOT the other way around!
They were not modeled after each other. Wendy (Melinda) was the nickname of one of Dave Thomas’s daughters. There is actually a real picture of her with pigtails out there, but, of course, it really doesn’t look like her:
