He can’t lift his arms above his shoulders because of poor medical care. Sure, his captors crushed his shoulder when they pulled him out of the lake (his arms were broken from being shot down and ejecting upside down) and beat him for about a month after he was captured, but that was before they found out who his daddy was. When they made that discovery, they gave him medical care for six weeks. After that, they moved him into solitary confinement for two years. The real torture began after he refused their offer of release and that only lasted a few days until he cracked and made an anti-US statement. They continued to beat him a few times a week for about a year, then it was pretty much over. They moved him back to the Hanoi Hilton and the treatment of POWs was much better for his remaining three and a half years of confinement.

Well you obviously missed the point. Of course, you would be a fool to believe everything the government said, just like you would be a fool to believe everything some anonymous jack ass on the internet said. That being said, the “government” didn’t tell me anything about John McCain’s war record. As I said, it is self evident, and I can believe my own two eyes.

If this country is in trouble, it’s not because of “people like me.” It’s because people like you have no idea what real evil is. If you want to tell me George Bush has been an ineffective leader, that is fine. I can understand that and I can respect it, and, in fact, I would agree. But he is not “evil”, this country is not “evil,” and John McCain is not evil.

On a side note, I’m not really sure how you extrapolated that I was saying people should “believe everything the government says” from my argument that you can SEE John McCain’s physical disability as proof of his torture. Again, you have made me deeply concerned about the failures of the American educational system.

That being said-I’m honestly afraid of McCain’s PTSD. My dad was a Vietnam vet and has PTSD (and he wasn’t even a POW) and I’ve had to go through some pretty rough time in regards to that. Frankly, knowing this, the thought of McCain in office FRIGHTENS me.

I do have curiosity. Mostly I am curious why and how the education system in this country failed you so profoundly. Everything is not a conspiracy. McCain’s war record is not a conspiracy. Quite frankly, I don’t have to believe everything I am told because I can see it with my own two eyes. The man is crippled. That being said, his POW status does not qualify him to be President. It’s his position on the issues that does that. People like you who, I am taking a wild guess here, never served a day in their life, should not go around smearing his reputation anonymously on the internet just because you have accomplished the lofty goals of owning a PC and an 8th grade education.

Honestly, I’d like to see complainers placed under actual torture and not give away their family and friends and elementary school teachers and college crushes–it’s one thing to think you’d hold out, one thing to sit behind your computer monitor and say, “Yeah, I’d rather die”–but when you’re in that situation it’s a whole new game with all new rules. When it comes right down to it human beings are wired to do whatever it takes to SURVIVE. He was there for six years. SIX YEARS. Six years of minimal medical care, general maltreatment, and torture. He also refused an early release because he knew that his captors wanted to show that he only got released because his daddy was an Admiral (thus confirming their theories of the US elite). How many people in that situation would have refused? I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have. I bet very few others would.

If he’d “spilled his guts” rather than be tortured, he’d probably be able to lift his arms over his head now. Whatever he did give his captors was likely minimal and not particularly useful by the time they got it.

I may not agree with the man politically, but I respect him as a human being.

Maybe if I focus on his cute voice and smile it will erase the thoughts of McNuts’ unpredicatable temper and desire for war against the world. Maybe if I focus on George’s sweet disposition on his show and in interviews it will make me forget he looks like a sexist golddigger man who publicly yelled at and called his uber rich wife a “C*nt”. Maybe if I focus on George’s lack of presence in the tabloids I will forget how McCain stalked/pursued his current heiress wife while he was a married man, then spends his poltical life chastising others who cheated but stayed with their families.
