Probably matters when you grew up. Many puppets are ugly yes. I love puppets! But I grew up before CGI. I love the Dark Crystal!

Every square inch of every frame was crafted with care by the genius of Jim Henson and company. It’s about as beautiful as one can get when creating everything on scene by hand. I think of the movie as art. Yeah, some of the characters could have been a little more like-able, but as a whole, the movis is nothing less than beautiful.
I had my first date EVER at this movie.
