Alright, n00bs. The photo on the left is a brain cell. The photo on the right is not “the universe.” The photo on the right is the predicted pattern of distribution of Dark Matter ‘in’ the Universe.

Right, so this doesn’t prove that the universe is the brain cell of some greater being. But it does support an already well-known theory about patterns being repeated in all of nature’s designs. Pretty interesting.

I think this is an fx from the team which also made the effects in guillermo del toro’s “el laberinto del fauno” movie. they use chemicals looked trough the microscope to make visuals like this universe.

My mind is blown too and yes I totally get the implication that a human brain cell potentially resembles a microscopic part of a microscopic cell of an unfathomably enormous organism that is our universe. And I love that people read way too far into it. Though the point being made can be neither proven nor dis-proven, it sparks wondrous thought, intrigue and imagination.

However, I would guess that this is an artistic representation by a scientist of what the universe might look like. It’s not a real photograph. Great ‘totally-looks-like’ though.

well.. isn’t size relative? I mean sure we have our own system of measurements, but wouldn’t a smaller being measure something relative to its own size in much the same way? I don’t much enjoy thinking about all of this, it kinda hurts my head… But why rule it out? Nothing’s really impossible in an infinite universe.
