I think it’s fairly obvious that the one was modeled after the other, so while they do look alike it’s no coincidence and doesn’t really belong here.
Yeah, becuase Pixar and NASA are in meetings to buy Earth and rule the universe …
Or Pixar wanted a “Space” feeling on their character, so they based the design on a NASA image.
The cover story of this months Popular Science Magazine is this jet-glider man (the pack works, he can skydive and fly with it). The article also makes some allusions to it looking like Buzz Lightyear and this is no doubt where the submitter got the idea as well as the second picture. How unoriginal.

somebody should do a modicum of research/googling before they post… sheesh. his name is Yves Rossy, AKA “fusion man” or “jetman”. as a further note, buzz lightyear was created in 1995 – long before rossy even had a prototype of this. so if anything, rossy looks like buzz! click my name for a news story that made this comparison some time ago.

You people don’t know creativity when you see it.
So the name of “Fusion Man” was not used. At least it isn’t another copy of Victoria Beckam and Falcor, or Jack Black and Paul Revere, or Will Farrell and that stupid drummer that so many people do and think they are being original.
You think its dumb, you are entitled to your opinion and comment. But at least someone is trying to be creative and original, not just constantly copying things that have been done so many times it is boring.
