It is because of the fact that faces of e.g. asian people differ in other ways than faces of “white” people. That’s a fact. As we don’t see those differences they all look the “same” for us. I’m pretty sure I understand what you mean, and I totally agree with you.
I believe that people are better at differentiating members of their own racial group, or ones with similar phenotypic characteristics simply because they are more familiar. So, to a white person, it will be harder to tell the difference between two similar looking black people than it would be for a black person, just like it will be harder for a black person to tell two similar looking Arabic people apart than it would be for an Arab.
If anyone finds me saying that offensive then I’m sorry, it’s not meant in any way to insult any person or ethnic / racial group. It’s just a simple acknowledgment of the fact that people find it easier to differentiate between similar appearances when they’re familiar with the appropriate subjects.
I get what you’re saying. I grew up in a racially and ethnically diverse area, and I never understood how people couldn’t tell people apart – to me the differences were obvious. But then I moved to a very “white” part of the country and had to learn how to tell all the blue-eyed blondes apart – a very strange experience.
But if all members of a group “look alike” to a person, that’s a sign that one needs to spend some time broadening one’s horizons, because it’s that sort of narrow experience that makes racism possible. If you see people as individuals, it’s hard to make stupid assumptions and stereotype them as some kind of monolithic group.

I must admit that this is sweet revenge. A few years ago tech savvy internet users with Bush derangement syndrome linked President Bushes bio with the Google search term “miserable failure.” Now the label has been transferred to President Barack Obama.
I know from personal experience that Black people have trouble telling white people apart. I had several instances where I was confused with anothe female at work that I though looked NOTHING like me – she had dark brown hair and blue eyes and I have almost blonde hair and green eyes. But we both were about the same height, size and skin tone. We would always crack up about it.
I dunno what made ‘black’ a race all of a sudden. By that standard, Europeans = white, Asians = Yellow, Australians = stabbed to death by a stingray.

Um, some of you might not know but there are a lot of different races in Indonesia and some are mixed or have mixed features.
Indonesia has peoples/tribes who look totally black such as in east indonesia (Papuas and some other islands).
Secondly, there used to be west african troops (hired by the dutch when indonesia was a dutch colony) stationed in indonesia which have mixed with the locals.
And 3rdly. All the surrounding countries such as thailand, malaysia, philipines etc have some indiginous black tribes (Negritos, Orang asli etc) it is most likely these peoples were present through most of the Indonesian archipelago (still present in east indonesia as mentioned before) so it is very likely that the absence of distict tribes in western and central indonesia means that they just completely mixed into the asiatic tribes.
A lot of South East asian people, including indonesian ppl have some african features and are considerably darker than for instance the chinese so it is not so inconceivable….
Indonesian influence has also been found on Madagaskar (next to Mozambique)where people speak an Austronesian language (asian language family that Indonesian languages belong to as well) and look mixed black and south east asian.
And my family is from java but most ppl think we are from east indonesia or mixed black because we have curly hair and big bums hehehe.
South asian people have the most unique skin, when the temperature is hot they’ll be dark, likewise, they will be lighter in rain or when they go to cooler place
