    so he does..

  2. Bugg says:

Should be the other way around. Gimli came first.

  3. candy says:

    Don’t roll alliance..

    • valerie says:

Better idea, don’t play wow. Avoid the jerks altogether because they’re on both factions. (People who think they aren’t on their faction… don’t see them because they’re the jerks)

    • faetal says:

that’s just sad, I have plenty of good horde friends and I’m alliance… so what if we can only communicate through emotes.

  4. Valdrax says:

Oh, wow. A modern movie version of a Tolkien dwarf looks like a dwarf from a fantasy game inspired by an RPG inspired by… Tolkien.

    My mind is completely blown.

    • meowza says:

I think you have WoW confused with LotR online (which IS based on LotR storyline). If you knew anything about WoW you’d realize that the only similarities are that there are dwarves, humans and elves, and a few of the classes include mages, and warriors. Which are all very common things in any mythology based game or story. Unless you mean to say that every story or game that includes dwarves, humans, elves, mages and warriors is mimicking LotR, and that mythology written before LotR is someone mimicking it too, which would be a whole other pile.

      • SkeetSkeet says:

“If you knew anything about WoW . . . ”

        GTFO

      • You idiot says:

WoW, just so you know, is based on D&D. D&D is based on -GASP- Tolkein. Gary Gygax said it himself. So if YOU knew anything about WoW, then you wouldn’t feel like a dumbass now.

        • D says:

wow, d&d, and tolkiens writings are all based off of mostly Norse Mythology with a little bit of celtic mythos in there as well

      • StupidMan says:

Anything that has dwarves and elves in it is mimicking Tolkien, since he invented those two words. In standard English, the plural of dwarf is dwarfs and the plural of elf is elfs.

      • DLOW THE MAD says:

ALL fantasy characters are based on tolkien’s and c.s.lewis’ famous stories, you see no one had ever tried to describe them before that tim… i do mean all, dungeons and dragons, wow, oblivion, any storyline and/or characters that have those general descriptions or abilities are based on lotr sorry to be a buzzkill, just because the story is not the same doesn’t mean that the type of story did not come from the same source

        • Níðhöggr says:

So… the Dragons and other fantasy-type creatures in Norse, Anglo-Saxon, German, Indian, etc mythologies were invented by Lewis and Tolkien thousands of years before their births?

          REALLY?

          • Masked-racoon says:

The dwarves of old Norse mythology were pretty different from Tolkien’s ones actually.
The point he/she was trying to make was that Tolkien and Lewis were the first ones to describe them in any real detail.

          • orlly says:

Dude, don’t be dumb. Every fantasy book ever written was inspired by mythology. No one said it’s the other way around. Every single book that can be included in D&D will have similarities, including games and movies.
BECAUSE THEY’RE BASED ON THE SAME THING – mythology or other fantasy worlds such as Tolkien’s, Forgotten Realms and so on.

  5. Matador says:

Wow, a dwarf looks like a dwarf. Go figure.

  6. Jerm says:

this should be in the fail pictures

  7. plaster says:

He’s got a helmet, how’s that even remotely similar to a cape?

  8. faetal says:

Gimli wasn’t a hunter though… a warrior maybe, but he lacks the pet and he can wear plate gear, so def not the hunter indicated in the WoW art.
That and he braids his beard, and while you CAN create a wow toon that looks more similar, this one fails.
    yes, I’m a proud alliance dork…

  9. forge says:

A DWARF LOOKS LIKE A DWARF!!! OMGWTFBBQ STOP THE PRESSES

  10. Brittany says:

    alliance FTW!!!

even better female dwarf FTW, seems like im the only person who ever plays female dwarf so go meeh :]

  11. Kristian says:

    No… Really?!

  12. ascatal says:

/facepalm of course he does Gimli is the prototypical dwarf

  13. ilovebeards says:

gimli is so much hotter then the other one.

  14. Hillarious says:

Whatever. You mean WOW char looks like Gimli? Considering LotR has been around waaaaay longer than friggin WOW

  15. Nick says:

    generic fantasy dwarf is generic

  16. Phoebe says:

The last time I checked, LOTR was around long before WOW came to be. So, NO, Gimli doesn’t look like that stupid WOW character. That stupid WOW character looks like Gimli. Culture yourselves, read a book.

  17. Jbomb says:

    Go World of Warcraft!

  18. HORDE says:

    FOR THE HORDE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Alex says:

How dare anyone put Gimli next to a WOW character.

  20. Anonymous says:

ya…i think this should be on the failblog…

  21. Hordie 2 says:

    Seriously, for the horde x2

  22. dolt says:

all of those kind of fantasies (WoW, D&D, WFB, ect) are all basicly rip-offs of tolkiens work anyway, so i think the point is that he’s supposed to look like gimli.

    • ditte says:

And Tolkien took from mythologies. He didn’t invent dwarfs.
Don;t get me wrong, I’m a big Tolkien fan, but if we’re playing “who came first” then everyone has failed so far.

  23. rjanis123 says:

it’s all about archetypes .. characters are based on same things .. in this case the game character was based on the actual character he looks like.. other times characters look alike based on their being based on either similar archetypes, or even stereotypes…

  24. Jess says:

    Nice Jack-O-Lantern Jackass…

  25. Catherine Quesenberry says:

    HAGRID

  26. hi says:

The Lord of the Rings movies are the greatest movies ever.

  27. OrangeCat says:

    Eh… All Dwarves look alike.

    Even the women. :P

  28. Masked-racoon says:

whoa, stereotype dwarf looks like the dwarf it’s stereotyping?
    wowza 0.0

  29. Moskow4life says:

well , i dont care but i think the DONT look-a-like, the beard doesnt match and see
that the LOTR character his beard splits at the end , the WoW character is a little bit greener and the nose is mutch bigger ,

and the clothing does also not match , the LoTR person wears a helmet the other doesn’t and the Wow character has a armor looks simular like crocodile skin the other doesn’t

Conclusion , THIS PICKTURE IS A TOTAL FAIL

  30. max says:

FOR THE HORDE, even though i have some alli lol

  31. croxx says:

    hahahahha xd

  32. kabooki says:

Dwarf woman are never seen, they spend their time underground and are extremely rare (one third of dwarves are female) according to Tolkien…that kinda sucks.
