I think the Little Tikes car is safer…
We should start a rumor that the Little Tikes car scored better in industry mandated side impact tests
They do, did you ever come across any injury report on the LTC? They have far better safety records and no recalls.
The Smart Car also uses far more gas than the LTC, though the LTC does have less storage space.
I can honestly say I’ve never heard of the Little Tykes Cars being involved with any fatal crashes.
That settles it, my next car is going to be a LTC! Do they make an SUV? I have a family of six.
They got a Pick-Up-Truck and a Hummer.
You did just now. Ask my sister how she got the lump on her forehead when she was 5. (I, at age 6, was driving, and she was riding not shotgun, but on top, and fell off. Need I mention she’s blonde?)
You don’t know what you’re talking about… insignificant person
I am sorry but that rumor would be a lie
The smart car scored a best rating from the Insurance Institute of Highway safety.
It rolls like an SUV
I would still drive a Smart rather than a cobalt or sumthin.
I’d rather drive my Bronco…it’s tough fitting an entire band’s worth of equipment in a Smart Car I would imagine..
Those don’t even look similar. At all.
whers ur imagination? *shakes head*
just paint it a different color, and WHALLA! its smrt car!
Actually the color is the only thing that’s mostly similar between the two. The reason they don’t look similar at all is because the smart car has an abnormally low slope of a wind shield and the Little Tykes Coupe practically has a tower for a roof.
Oh yeah, and the word you were looking for was “voila.” WHALLA doesn’t mean anything to my knowledge.
The little tykes cars don’t look like that anymore. Now they have eyes. They scare me. I want to find one of the ols ones for my daughter.
i think they look like tonka cars
damn, lol,i was thinking about this a few weeks ago when i saw someone’s kid playing with their coupe and i thought “Ahh…so that’s where they got the design for the Smart Car!”
sadly, the little tykes car has twice the power…..
and better mileage
and a fricking better look! and it is almost the same size as the smart car!
and MUCH cheaper!! LOL!!!
heck yea! smart cars arent so smart if this comparison was made possible!
Do you think the Smart Car would be more powerful if you had to option to just “Flinstone it”, like you would in the Little Tyke’s car?
Hehe
When I was little, we used to have these cars with baskets on them. We could drive them round the supermarket. Thinking back, it’s rather unsettling.
Vickitty — my Safeway (in the Denver suburbs) still has ‘em! I always ask litle kids if they have a license to drive that thing
i’m wondering what the Little Tikes car would do if I outfitted it with a Honda lawnmower engine…..
My guess is the Little Tikes Car wouldnt ‘do’ anything since it is just a piece of plastic and all
ok mister/misses ‘S. M. Artie Pants’
what if i told yu that your imagination was made of plastic? Hmmmmm!
what would you say then?
Hmm… well I am blonde… i would say it is highly possible….
my friend got a smart car as his first car and now he told me he wishes he looked at other dealers! i personally would prefer a dumb car.
I have your solution! Buy Mopar!
That would satisfy the “dumb” part
all im saying is that i would prefer a car or truck with suckish miles per gallon instead of one that has no trunk space, no room for people to sit in it, and if you get in a crash, there is just about nothing to protect you… aka: the engine isnt large enough to take the force of the crash so, whatever you crashed into will hit the driver.
You might want to watch these 5 minutes 40 seconds with a Smart 70 mph crash test. It might show that the Smart is maybe a bit more safe than the play car – and many other, “dumber” cars out there:
Who cares about the rigidity of the cage? If you end up with an engine enema, all that rigidity is for naught. The collision with Mercedes didn’t look very reassuring.
Ya. Who care if the windshield remained the same. You can see the front tire is so far back, you mostly wouldn’t have any leg left. Where as a bigger front engine car would have a far great energy absorbing zone and if the firewall is design properly, it would deflect the engine and front tire downward and keep the foot well in a more intact shape.
But the whole point about the Smart is to build a car that is much smaller than the others, and equally safe. The idea was to relieve traffic in the cities (at least of Europe). You can even park it horizontally in places that are only for parallel parking.
It’s only the “equally safe” part I am questioning. Personally, I want some metal armour
Gee – they’ve both got some red bits and wheels. Total fail.
Short Answer: NO
what kind of dousche bag would design a car after a childrens toy(DOUSCHE BAG)
Well, since the Smart was designed in Germany, that would be a Deutsch bag.
I don’t really think the children’s toy had anything to do with the designing process. There’s a name for that effect: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convergent_evolution
As a tow-truck driver, all I can say is pancake city after they hit an SUV. It always saddens me, a hippie, cut down in his prime, with sooo many joints left unsmoked… I live in the west and all the rednecks in their diesel pickups, I sure as hell wouldn’t drive one or let someone I know and care about drive it. Wonder if I should get one for the ex-wife for V-day? Been two two accidents in the last two months with them an the coroner was at each one. I think the saddest part was the smart-car driver was in the right, but lost anyway.
Crash at 70mph and you’re going to die anyway. These cars aren’t any less safe than the massive penis extensions that absolute morons buy.
Actually Ceefax, two months ago my husband and I crashed on the highway going 70mph, we rolled 3 times in the median…and we didn’t die. Didn’t even get too injured, just a backache and each a concussion, well and bruises galore.
On the other hand, I recall having constant scraped up calfs and ankles from the coupe
Do you honestly think the Smart would have the approval for the German market (with the most rigid safety regulations all over the world!) if it wasn’t safe???
I myself was involved into a car crash several months ago with a double roll-over (drove a toyota aygo) and I got out of the car with nothing more than a scratch caused by the broken window.
It’s got nothing to do with the size of your car, it’s got to do with the safety systems, my darling.
^^ we weren’t in a Smart Car though, forgot to mention that.
The Little Tykes car has more class than the Box-on-Wheels (I mean, Smart Car)
My Smart car looks nothing like that.
“…like Little Tikes”= hardest three consecutive words to read EVER.
WOAH I USED TO HAVE ONE OF THOSE!!
…I think the LTC is bigger….
I read some more about Little Tikes Cars from this site. Maybe itโs useful for others too.
