dang… you think there is some sort of copy write thing here cause thats just a little too close.
It’s copyRIGHT, not copyWRITE
Rite! It’s CopyWRONG!
hah. you like LSD, don’t you.
I think you mean copyLEFT
Some images are public domain, like clip art. I’ve seen this little guy before. I think he’s public domain.
it was done on purpose ..this is not an accident
File this under Optical Allusion.
ba-zing
allusion? lol
try illusion, what is with people and spelling?
No, they meant Allusion.
hahahahahaha correction fail
you = chump. 3 months later, even.
Haha. Loser.
yeah .. it does .. because the album cover was BASED ON the logo :-\
correct
wow….something looks exactly like itself….wow….just…..wow
congrats, submitter….you are an idiot
Settle down!
For a lot of us, Johnny Depp is the only version of Sweeny Todd that we have been exposed to. I would never have made the connection between the two without this submission.
Tootsie, just because you’re so poorly exposed to society doesn’t mean that JSieverts doesn’t have a point here. Maybe YOU need to settle down, rather than getting all defensive because you’ve culturally ignorant of things like this.
*you’ve = you’re*
there’s nothing like a good trollfest!
I went to Trollfest once. Dirtier than Lollapalooza, but with more baby bones and bridges for sale.
lol
Ha! stuck with the bones, eh?¿ Last weekend this rocketman and I stuff our buds of taste into quite the smorgeshborg (?) of B.Face. That’s what we call it. It’s always sad when the little time they had STILL managed to permafix their countanence (?) into an all-embracing smile.
OK I don’t know. That was it. That was officially the most assinine, repulsive, twisted alchemy of words and concept I’ve managed to projectile vomit into the scene at hand. I’m either fired or promoted.
go on trolls, say it.
fired.
*heads back behind curtain*
admired
*cheeks get red from blushing*
finally, thank you. Starting to wonder if the site was secretly banning my posts due to…yeah.
no, actually, that person is right. society as a whole has completely forgotten about books, so most people would not have known this. and they were making a point, not being defensive. drama is not needed on sites intended for making you laugh. calm your self.
Maybe, but the image is not a book cover.
Mmm…
It might be on the book cover, although I haven’t seen it. I know this picture was definitely on the official poster for the original Sondheim production with George Hearn.
it’s the book of the musical score – It;s the image used on the music for the orchestra and for the songbook the actors use. I have one!
Yeah, let’s make excuses for people by saying that they shouldn’t be expected to know anything about the arts because the whole of society has forgotten about books. That argument is totally false, btw, since EVERY single major newspaper in western society STILL publishes a Best Sellers List.
Society as a whole hasn’t completely forgotten about books. Maybe a majority of people are too goddamn lazy to read, but that doesn’t make your argument true, nor does it justify ignorance.
Here’s your nice steaming cup of STFU.
books are entering a newage
ebooks audiobooks
its all the same
well maybe not audio books…
“EVERY single major newspaper in western society STILL publishes a Best Sellers List.”
–>You must have missed the very public outcry over the Washington Post dropping their book section, then.
Reading is lazy.
True true.
I have to agree with daughter. Maybe people don’t have access to a “best sellers list”, newspaper, etc. doesn’t make them incompetent or ignorant. Unfortunately people aren’t reading books as much as they used to, but it’s no reason to adjust the stick in your ass (i.e. fuzzy) because no one recognizes the sweeney todd book cover. If you want to be more optimistic, maybe the movie or even this “look alike” will get people to read sweeney todd or other books.
Fuzzi IS an ass and needs anger management.
However, not knowing something DOES make you ignorant as that is the definition of the word. It does NOT make you stupid or idiotic.
yes but being ignorant about one thing does not make you an ignorant person.
Except it ISN’T a book.
It’s the original poster for the musical. You know…the one of which the movie version was based of off. One would think if you cared enough about the movie to defend it, you should know enough to recognize the original cover. I don’t care about EITHER and I recognized it.
And EITHER way it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see they’re the same damn picture.
It is the book cover, or at least the play cover. Yes, it was also the original poster, but I own a copy of the play and that IS the cover.
book cover as in SONGbook cover. for the music and lyrics to the musical, not for a novelization.
How’s this for ya? I knew that the pic was the cover of Sweeney Todd, but I didn’t recognize the album cover for Collective Soul. So, in what way does that make me “culturally ignorant”?
btw..pretty big fan of Collective Soul, but I don’t own that album.
You should get it. It’s pretty decent, but not my favorite (See: Dosage). The “Hints, Allegations…” album is the one that has “Shine” on it.
I loved Dosage too
I’ll probably pick up ‘Hints’ eventually, just cuz I do adore Collective Soul.
Tootsie sounded pretty calm to me, and at least she didn’t call people ignorant.
Right Daughter. Blow it out your ass Fuzzi, and quit being so arrogant.
THIS
That’s the point of the site, queerbag. And besides, i personally think it was a great discovery and not a lot of people would have noticed it if it weren’t pointed out like that.
I don’t think these look anything alike
are you partially blind
It’s called making a joke. Sometimes, when you say the opposite of what it obvious, people regard that as what is known as humor (or humour). You should Google it. It’s pretty interesting when you have a sense of it.
Yeah! What “duh” said! She made it sound funny!
Hence the necessity for the tags, which will hopefully be ratified into the latest version of HTML soon.
Oops. that didn’t work out. insert (sarcasm) and (/sarcasm) except with
the >< symbols instead of parentheses.
Is this seriously what look-alikes have come down to? This is sad.
*Backflip*
*Flings the verbose*
*Side-flip, smoke bomb, out*
Ahem, what troll mask?
*shuffles sideways with mask behind back*
You know this because you had to Google it yourself, I take it.
Actually, it’s called sarcasm.
LOL. You’re right, it’s totally obvious the person was being sarcastic. “It’s called making a joke.” Sorry, I was under the impression that jokes were supposed to be funny.
That supposition died with the advent of the Internet.
well put, sir.
comedy nowadays has run out of original ideas and has become lazy with stupid one liners. There are very few honestly funny people in the world today.
NSS, that’s because it’s based on it. Duh. That’s like saying “Will Smith totally looks like that guy from I robot!”. Nah, ya think?
Wow…uncanny!
Also, did you ever notice that guy from “The Matrix” looks like an older version of that guy in “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure”?
LOL.
yeah, this one is definitely another case of doesn’t look like but actually *is*.
But they do look REALLY similar! Actually, exactly the same only the second one isn`t colored in! Copyright! CO-PY-RIGHT!
Purchase of license! PUR-CHASE OF LI-CENSE!
Maybe Alice was implying that the copied the picture right.
add a “y” to the first “the”.
Yay! typos!
looks like lourana bobits kinda book…..
Er – that’d be Lorena Bobbitt. Can’t see the connection myself – did she put it in a pie?
Mrs. Bobbitt’s “meat” pies?
Actually, I think she’s more of a sausage vendor.
there’s a good chance that they are both based on a political cartoon or something from the 1800’s. Public domain
sigh.
They are the same thing Collective soul got permission to use the Sweeney Todd logo on the album
Laura ftw! You spelled it out exactly, some people don’t get that.
One of them is a copy, right? O.o
^ Once more, please note the obviously obvious redundancy again. ^
… or not.
It looks intentional to me.
I have the image in a book of 1800’s clip art. It’s pretty old, and public domain.
Anything with Sweeney Todd is a win.
We are now officially one step away from “Image of me in the mirror totally likes like image of me in this other mirror”.
If you ever go to the vote page it’s about there. My personal favorite has been “Ron Pearlman totally looks like Hellboy” Really?! You think so!?
HAHAHAHHA Thank you Hergie. I Lol’d
For everyone freaking out about the comparison, saying, “Purchase of license” and saying that people weren’t exposed to society…
First of all, maybe they’re not a fan of the band the cover is from. Secondly, I work in a bookstore, and still haven’t seen this book before. Not everyone has seen every single book that’s out there. I was going to make a copyright comment myself, until I saw what people were posting.
Not everyone knows that the band went out and got the rights to use the image. It was just something someone noticed, and put on the website. Just because some people already knew about it doesn’t mean everyone did.
Chill the crap out.
But it’s so painfully OBVIOUS that they’re both copied from the same image that it can’t just be a big fat coincidence. If they’d stepped back and used their heads, then…well we wouldn’t have 80% of the comments on these posts.
but if someone is going to go out of their way to make a TLL, they should do some research and make sure they’re not the same f’ing thing before posting.
Thank you!! Whether or not you’ve heard of something, if you’re going to take the time out of your day to make one of these TLLs, why wouldn’t you take the time to use Google?
I am willing to bet that the person who made this knew that the two images were related.
Just to clear up the book issue: the volume actors use in a stage show with the music, lyrics, script, etc is called a “Book.” So the Sweeny Tood book the poster’s describing is likelythe script, not an actual book with the story of Sweeny Todd in it.
Like wimple says. Piece of clip-art totally looks like same piece of clip-art. Whodathunkit?
They have The Internet on COMPUTERS, now?
yeah, just like they finally made cell phones that can make phone calls!!
Pssssst… **whispers** don’t feed the trolls
TROLL.
fed
omg. this is exact. :O
You’re all a bunch of whining idiots. I dislike collective soul immensely and sweeny todd looks to me to be a worthless jumble of words. So I thought the comparison was great. Get over yourselves.
I’d rather get over you and take a dump.
as immature as that was, it was a win
Anything poop related is a win.
Guys, guys! For musicals, a “book” is something with the lines and lyrics on it… I checked this out at the local library and made the connection after a friend showed me the collective soul album. I just thought it was funny >_<
And as for the image being from the 1800s— no, wrong again. Good job.
The image WAS from the 1800s. I have a book of public domain images with that exact image in it. Calm down people. FFS
In other news, Banknote totally looks like U.S. President!!
LOL!
Isn’t the image from the 60’s? Seriously people, Stephen sondhiem isn’t that old. The musical was from the 60’s. So was the frigging poster and book.
if you google “alimony ale” the same guy pops up
WHY do people have to waste our time with things like this?? DO they NOT get what this site is for?
PEOPLE: This is NOT a site to show everyone how smart you think you are by showing us things that are MEANT to look alike — hence, making you look STUPID.
THIS SITE IS FOR THINGS THAT LOOK ALIKE BY ACCIDENT! GET IT?
Damn!
Wow, this whole conversation was ridiculously hilarious.
I can’t agree more…
I, for one, didn’t know either. I’m not a big fan of collective soul, and the only version of Todd I know is the Burton one. I’m not ignorant, but they are not part of my culture (I’m french), so for me, it comes as a surprise to see the totaly looks alike of these covers.
es igual es una copia exacta
wow…. do you think that was the point? Um… Yeah!
Many siilarities, but it was the striped pants that did it for me. This is a plagerized copy.
PHAIL
how many times are people gonna use that stupid clown!?!?!?! (i dont really think the clown is stupid to all u lunatics who took that personallly)
