dang… you think there is some sort of copy write thing here cause thats just a little too close.

  2. janet says:

yeah .. it does .. because the album cover was BASED ON the logo :-\

  3. JSieverts says:

    wow….something looks exactly like itself….wow….just…..wow

    congrats, submitter….you are an idiot

    • Tootsie says:

      Settle down!
For a lot of us, Johnny Depp is the only version of Sweeny Todd that we have been exposed to. I would never have made the connection between the two without this submission.

      • Fuzzi says:

Tootsie, just because you’re so poorly exposed to society doesn’t mean that JSieverts doesn’t have a point here. Maybe YOU need to settle down, rather than getting all defensive because you’ve culturally ignorant of things like this.

        • Fuzzi says:

          *you’ve = you’re*

        • unknownwriter says:

no, actually, that person is right. society as a whole has completely forgotten about books, so most people would not have known this. and they were making a point, not being defensive. drama is not needed on sites intended for making you laugh. calm your self.

          • Ashley says:

Maybe, but the image is not a book cover.

            • Aalst says:

              Mmm…
It might be on the book cover, although I haven’t seen it. I know this picture was definitely on the official poster for the original Sondheim production with George Hearn.

              • Lucy says:

it’s the book of the musical score – It;s the image used on the music for the orchestra and for the songbook the actors use. I have one!

          • Fuzzi says:

Yeah, let’s make excuses for people by saying that they shouldn’t be expected to know anything about the arts because the whole of society has forgotten about books. That argument is totally false, btw, since EVERY single major newspaper in western society STILL publishes a Best Sellers List.

Society as a whole hasn’t completely forgotten about books. Maybe a majority of people are too goddamn lazy to read, but that doesn’t make your argument true, nor does it justify ignorance.

Here’s your nice steaming cup of STFU.

            • icanhazdubblecheezburger says:

              books are entering a newage
              ebooks audiobooks
              its all the same
              well maybe not audio books…

            • --E says:

“EVERY single major newspaper in western society STILL publishes a Best Sellers List.”

–>You must have missed the very public outcry over the Washington Post dropping their book section, then.

            • Meg says:

              Reading is lazy.

          • pfft says:

            True true.

        • princess says:

I have to agree with daughter. Maybe people don’t have access to a “best sellers list”, newspaper, etc. doesn’t make them incompetent or ignorant. Unfortunately people aren’t reading books as much as they used to, but it’s no reason to adjust the stick in your ass (i.e. fuzzy) because no one recognizes the sweeney todd book cover. If you want to be more optimistic, maybe the movie or even this “look alike” will get people to read sweeney todd or other books.

          • lexicologist says:

Fuzzi IS an ass and needs anger management.

However, not knowing something DOES make you ignorant as that is the definition of the word. It does NOT make you stupid or idiotic.

          • terra says:

            Except it ISN’T a book.

It’s the original poster for the musical. You know…the one of which the movie version was based of off. One would think if you cared enough about the movie to defend it, you should know enough to recognize the original cover. I don’t care about EITHER and I recognized it.

And EITHER way it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see they’re the same damn picture.

            • MC says:

It is the book cover, or at least the play cover. Yes, it was also the original poster, but I own a copy of the play and that IS the cover.

        • Becki says:

How’s this for ya? I knew that the pic was the cover of Sweeney Todd, but I didn’t recognize the album cover for Collective Soul. So, in what way does that make me “culturally ignorant”?

btw..pretty big fan of Collective Soul, but I don’t own that album.

          • Chris says:

You should get it. It’s pretty decent, but not my favorite (See: Dosage). The “Hints, Allegations…” album is the one that has “Shine” on it.

        • CoCo says:

Tootsie sounded pretty calm to me, and at least she didn’t call people ignorant.

        • pfft says:

Right Daughter. Blow it out your ass Fuzzi, and quit being so arrogant.

    • rhyanna says:

      THIS

    • Mrs. Lovett says:

That’s the point of the site, queerbag. And besides, i personally think it was a great discovery and not a lot of people would have noticed it if it weren’t pointed out like that.

  4. RankMyTyping says:

I don’t think these look anything alike :)

  5. in_a_box says:

NSS, that’s because it’s based on it. Duh. That’s like saying “Will Smith totally looks like that guy from I robot!”. Nah, ya think?

  6. lewarcher says:

    Wow…uncanny!

Also, did you ever notice that guy from “The Matrix” looks like an older version of that guy in “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure”?

  7. Alice says:

But they do look REALLY similar! Actually, exactly the same only the second one isn`t colored in! Copyright! CO-PY-RIGHT!

  8. neue says:

looks like lourana bobits kinda book…..

  9. AllenHyundai says:

there’s a good chance that they are both based on a political cartoon or something from the 1800’s. Public domain

  10. Laura says:

They are the same thing Collective soul got permission to use the Sweeney Todd logo on the album

  11. foop says:

One of them is a copy, right? O.o

  12. kamikaze14 says:

    It looks intentional to me.

  13. wimple says:

I have the image in a book of 1800’s clip art. It’s pretty old, and public domain.

  14. LyssaLovett says:

Anything with Sweeney Todd is a win.

  15. hergieburbur says:

We are now officially one step away from “Image of me in the mirror totally likes like image of me in this other mirror”.

  16. Pali says:

For everyone freaking out about the comparison, saying, “Purchase of license” and saying that people weren’t exposed to society…

First of all, maybe they’re not a fan of the band the cover is from. Secondly, I work in a bookstore, and still haven’t seen this book before. Not everyone has seen every single book that’s out there. I was going to make a copyright comment myself, until I saw what people were posting.

Not everyone knows that the band went out and got the rights to use the image. It was just something someone noticed, and put on the website. Just because some people already knew about it doesn’t mean everyone did.

    Chill the crap out.

    • Mao says:

But it’s so painfully OBVIOUS that they’re both copied from the same image that it can’t just be a big fat coincidence. If they’d stepped back and used their heads, then…well we wouldn’t have 80% of the comments on these posts.

    • janet says:

but if someone is going to go out of their way to make a TLL, they should do some research and make sure they’re not the same f’ing thing before posting.

      • Panda says:

Thank you!! Whether or not you’ve heard of something, if you’re going to take the time out of your day to make one of these TLLs, why wouldn’t you take the time to use Google?

  17. Ashley says:

I am willing to bet that the person who made this knew that the two images were related.

  18. Not Pompous says:

Just to clear up the book issue: the volume actors use in a stage show with the music, lyrics, script, etc is called a “Book.” So the Sweeny Tood book the poster’s describing is likelythe script, not an actual book with the story of Sweeny Todd in it.

  19. Dr Techie says:

Like wimple says. Piece of clip-art totally looks like same piece of clip-art. Whodathunkit?

  20. zoozoopedals says:

They have The Internet on COMPUTERS, now?

  21. Kahlest says:

Pssssst… **whispers** don’t feed the trolls

  22. meg! says:

    omg. this is exact. :O

  23. Babies says:

You’re all a bunch of whining idiots. I dislike collective soul immensely and sweeny todd looks to me to be a worthless jumble of words. So I thought the comparison was great. Get over yourselves.

  24. hippiehead says:

Guys, guys! For musicals, a “book” is something with the lines and lyrics on it… I checked this out at the local library and made the connection after a friend showed me the collective soul album. I just thought it was funny >_<

  25. Mrs. Lovett says:

And as for the image being from the 1800s— no, wrong again. Good job.

  26. It's from the 1800s says:

The image WAS from the 1800s. I have a book of public domain images with that exact image in it. Calm down people. FFS

  27. Ant says:

In other news, Banknote totally looks like U.S. President!!

  28. kitty says:

Isn’t the image from the 60’s? Seriously people, Stephen sondhiem isn’t that old. The musical was from the 60’s. So was the frigging poster and book.

  29. abcd1234 says:

if you google “alimony ale” the same guy pops up

  30. Dean says:

WHY do people have to waste our time with things like this?? DO they NOT get what this site is for?

PEOPLE: This is NOT a site to show everyone how smart you think you are by showing us things that are MEANT to look alike — hence, making you look STUPID.

THIS SITE IS FOR THINGS THAT LOOK ALIKE BY ACCIDENT! GET IT?

    Damn!

  31. Tea-chan says:

Wow, this whole conversation was ridiculously hilarious.

  32. Lyny says:

I, for one, didn’t know either. I’m not a big fan of collective soul, and the only version of Todd I know is the Burton one. I’m not ignorant, but they are not part of my culture (I’m french), so for me, it comes as a surprise to see the totaly looks alike of these covers.

  33. javier says:

es igual es una copia exacta

  34. ....wow.... says:

wow…. do you think that was the point? Um… Yeah!

  35. midasallen says:

Many siilarities, but it was the striped pants that did it for me. This is a plagerized copy.

  36. Axel says:

    PHAIL

  37. alexzandria47 says:

how many times are people gonna use that stupid clown!?!?!?! (i dont really think the clown is stupid to all u lunatics who took that personallly)
