And yet both of them still hung the American flag wrong on the cover….
depends on what the flag is supposed to be hanging from… if it’s hanging from a building or on a wall… you’re right the stars should be to the left. but when it’s hanging from over a street or something… the stars should be on the eastern or northern side, depending on which direction the street goes.
But the flag isn’t hung over a street, its hung over a wall…of fire!
wow steven seagall became a director,
top notch crap coming soon to a garbage can near you
Don’t both movies have to do with government cover-ups/conspiracies/bad guys?
Maybe it’s some kind of political statement, like wearing the flag upside down.
The flag us backwards. The graphic designers need to learn how the flag is supposed to be displayed.
and you need to realize there is 2 sides to a flag.
1. There ARE 2 sides to a flag, but…
2. When hung vertically, the stars are on the left, you idiot.
Technically when hung at all, the stars are to be to the viewer’s left. Hence, it’s hard to apply that when hung over a street. But it’s not on a street! lol
Yes. It isn’t on a street. It’s suspended above some flames, meaning it is hung on something. Maybe not a street, but he could be on the wrong side of the flag in both cases.
and you need to realize the grammatical reality of plurality, i.e. “2 sides” is more than 1, therefore “there ARE”.
Oh, and I do not see the other side of the flag on the DVD back – shaunmusco.com/images/Printed/T/The_Marine_Unrated_R1-%5Bcdcovers_cc%5D-front.jpg
BTW, shouldn’t the front of the DVD be the FRONT of the DVD? Thus the flag should be correctly displayed on the front and not the back, if there was a flag on the back?
It doesn’t appear that the cover design is trying to look on the same environment from two side – front and read. But even if it did, the flag should be incorrectly displayed on the back due to the FRONT prospective nature of the environment.
And they both also SUCKED!!
And they both look terrible…
well, in actuality the flag is hung up correctly. The picture was taken on the opposite side…

So you’re saying that in both cases, each musclebound macho action hero is hiding behind the American flag, and each DVD cover is to appear that the photo is taken from behind the flag? And just how did you come to that harebrained conclusion?
you did, dumbass… LOL!!!!
Holy crap! I had no idea there was such thing as “flag etiquette” ahahaha! That’s hilarious!
and the flag should be burning
KIDDING!
It is burning…look at all the fire.
Have you ever seen a fire? The fire comes from the object that is on fire, not from somewhere beneath it, therefore the flag is not burning, it is simply near some fire.
I think the flag is probably supposed to be on a casket. (I think the context allows for that) The stars are on that side because they’re closer to the heart of the deceased.
I think you’ve put more thought into this then the writers put into both movies put together.
Ok, more realistically, they probably just stuck a flag in the background and were like “Eh, what the hell, nobody notices these things anyways.”
I don’t think “they were like… something”, I don’t think they put ANY thought in it at all, and simply put a flag on there.
suck my ball sac
” I think you’ve put more thought into this then the writers put into both movies put together. ”
I not only completely agree, but motion to make that statement an epic win.
it’s on fire.
The what looks like the what now?
who cares?
Being an Aussie, I wouldn’t have a clue as to which way your flag’s stars are meant to be. However I did notice that the one on the left seems to be all stretched and the stars all look like they’re on strings.
I’ve worked at a dvd rental for over 2 years. Give me an hour and I’ll give you a hundred different dvd covers that look as much alike as these two do.
lol i bet they’re all the same story, too ><
Pretty much. Hollywood and all that…
agreed
Yeah, but Killing Down isn’t unrated….
Reminds me of an Onion article about the graphic designer who got a new Photoshop application with fire graphics and used it everywhere on everything.
They are nothing alike.. one is cleary a top shelf action thriller
yet 781 people said it has a 4.5 out of 5 resemblence
so suck it :p
Wow. I can’t believe Americans have all of those policies about how their flag should be hung. My favourite was “No person shall display the flag of the United Nations of any other national of international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to, or in place of, the flag of the United States at any place within the United States or any Territory of possession thereof”. I’m sorry but if I ever have the unfortunate opportunity to live in the US, I’m not going to worry about making sure the US flag has ’superior prominence’ over my own flag. Freedom of expression doesn’t mean much, does it.
I’m pretty sure Canada doesn’t have rules like that. Of course our flag looks the same from either side, so it wouldn’t matter how you hung it unless it was upside down.
Canada does have extensive rules for flag etiquette:

Not really
Pretty good….But I’ve see a countless number of action movies with fire in the back and people in the front–they all copy each other. But I admit, this is one of the most similar comparisons

seems like a great movie…
