Well another reason is men naturally have more muscle, and have always been the “breadwinners”, so to speak. Therefore, it’s been drilled into our DNA that men are stronger, therefore that men can’t be hurt my a smack.

i feel for you and your situation, i have known too many women who have been victims of domestic violence and abuse in general. but i believe what chimmeychago was trying to point out (he failed) is that although domestic violence is a daily occurence and is sickening, no one is without sin. and claiming that no WOMAN deserves to be beaten is a little one sided. woman cause domestic violence too. maybe not in as many cases, but no PERSON deserves to be a victim. regardless of gender

Hear, hear. I was raised in a household where domestic violence ran rampant. My mom would yell, shout and cuss out my dad, who’s just sit there and take it and when she was done, she’d do her work on me. Part of it is because (I think this might be the case) I was different from most kids my age because I was a) autistic and b) couldn’t learn how to speak until I was 5-6 years old. The result was an autistic kid who believed that violence was the way of the world and had no sense of self.

For those who think I was asking for this mental abuse, in which ways was I asking for it? I was barely able to speak and I got a spiel on how it was my fault for being born, that I was a mistake, and how everything going wrong in her life was my fault.

Now, I’m a 21 year old chick who has gotten her life somewhat back together, I have a sense of self even though I’ve been through more traumatizing experiences than what I’ve described and I feel sorry for those who have, are, and will go through what I’ve described. Not everyone has the strength to run away. It took my dad until I was 10 to tell my mom that he won’t take it any more and that she should stop or there’s the door. Best day of my life followed by the divorce.

Feel free to flame me or call me an idiot, but this is just a small chapter of my story and I’ll stick to it.

I’m sorry but just because you were a pain in the ass and didn’t learn dosn’t mean that beating someone is wrong. Don’t tell me you have never hit a person in your life because, unless I’m mistaken, you are human and the thing about humans is that violence is the thing we know best. I’m inclined to agree with Smelton. If I could go back in time I would not only beat a few people but there are a few that I would snuff out without a second thought. I don’t consider my self a violent person, but there are a huge amout of people that deserve less than the dirt they walk on. People as a whole are a violent and disgusting race. I’m not saying there are no good people, but the way we treat animals and other people is horrible. When ads on T.V. come on that say stuff like “look at this poor dog. it has been beaten and starved. this is inhumane and should be stopped.” I get annoyed because that is exactly what humanity does. So in conclusion to my little rant, it is perfectly natural to feel the need to hit something or someone at some moments. this does not mean it’s right or wrong it’s just a NATURAL feeling or desire that humans and most other species have.

Now please explain how hitting someone suggests that you lack knowledge.
