I have a thought about this. Now, this may be straight out of left field, but I think there’s a distinct possibility that the resemblance here may in fact be intentional. Almost as if the creators of Futurama were using decades of science fiction as the basis for their futuristic world.

Honestly, I’m surprised nobody in this thread has even considered that possibility yet…

umm .. they are the same!! .. Futurama was making an old movie refference to be funny … its not a “look alike” because that is exactly who it is!! … toolbags .. I’m sorry, nothing from “Futurama” is eligible for “Totally Looks Like”, because the whole point of “Futurama” is to spoof existing stuff!
So yeah, he looks like because he’s supposed to look like.
Heck, even the opening theme music from “Futurama” is a breakbeat remix of “Psyche Rock”, a track from “Messe Pour Les Temps Présent”, an avant garde ballet piece by Pierre Henry from the ’60s.
