You’d think, but why do two when you can rehash one? They’re totally different, anyway. The Seether album has a gap in her hair a bit off-center to the right, and the other album has a gap in her hair right in the middle. See the difference?

Perhaps this is the artist’s thng – like the Chinese artist Yue Minjun, the subjects of whose pictures all have fixed, toothy grins. Mr Ho likes to draw pretty little girls with skeletal chests which appeal to certain types of bands (sorry, never heard anything by Seether or Infected Mushroom…). Fact is, they do TLL each other.

It is possibly the same recurring character although stylistically all of his people are drawn in a similar way. I’m familiar with his work but I don’t know much about the concepts behind it, it is not uncommon to have recurring characters appear in your illustrations when you are a conceptual illustrator – they represent themes. HOWEVER it seems a bit negligent to use that character to illustrate album covers for two different bands. But then maybe the record company that hired him commissioned him to do so.
As for the exposed ribcage, if you look the version of the infected mushroom cover that is on his website or (davidho.com) under “commercial work”, or on google for that matter, her ribs are not exposed, she is holding a much bigger heart that covers where the ribs are exposed on this version here which has been photoshopped. So at least CONCEPTUALLY the images are actually different even if it is the same character.
TL;DR
I just made a page like this about a week ago. There is in fact a heart over her chest in some of the pictures, but that’s actually a slip-cover that came over the album. (I import-ordered the album from israel) so both pictures are correct. The fact that he did the same thing twice may be because the infected mushroom album (Which I love) was released in Israel and he didnt see harm in basically reproducing the image for another band in the states. I was upset about this originally, but now that I know it’s the same artist, he may have a had logical reasons. but yeah, just figured I’d let you know, neither image has been photoshopped because that image is the one that appears on the album case itself, the heart is just on a slip-cover which goes over the case.

not only do they look alike, they sound alike… like pure crap, to be specific. not surprising that two such horrible “bands” would choose the same cover art.

The pictures weren’t made for the albums. The paintings were already done by the artist and were selected by the bands on their own. One wasn’t trying to copy the other. They didn’t even know the other existed.
David Ho has a number of pieces with Candice the Ghost. These are two of them. If you visit his page (davidho.com), you can see all of the commercial work he has done, in addition to the series of Candice the Ghost paintings. He uses her a lot.
Oh yeah, and if you saw Seether live, you might recognize “Candice Learns Zen” from the backdrop.

Both done by David Ho. i was looking at his work last night. Its his Ghost Girl series – a girl called candice.
Yeah, it is weird, but I guess it’s not much different than two albums using mona lisa….but because it’s a series, I don’t know. I think they shoulda got another design

Seriosly guys? Of course they look alike because yes they are the same person. Both of the album covers are from a collection of works by david ho. Both covers are from his candice the ghost collection. The bands both liked that collection and used pieces from it as their album covers
