In the beginning of RotK, we have a flashback sequence of how Gollum acquired the ring – Deagol & Smeagol, two cousins, are fishing in a boat. Deagol catches a large fish that pulls him from the boat, and as he’s being pulled through the water he spies the Ring in the muck at the bottom. He lets go of the pole and snatches up the Ring.
When he gets back to shore, Smeagol comes up behind him, spies the Ring in his hand, and is instantly enthralled. He ends up choking his cousin to death to obtain the Ring, and then is cast out of his village for murder.
It’s a very eerie sequence.
At least it didn’t come to that for Constantine on AI! LOL

I think that is Grima Wormtongue in the first picture (ladies in the crowd, don’t even think about it). Grima worked for Saruman destroying Theodan’s mind and ended up killing Saruman in RoTK. Then he gets reincarnated and he’s not Grima, but Smeagol???
So I’m confused. Did Smeagol come before Grima or the other way around?

Nope…that’s Smeagol up there. Chronologically, Smeagol was first, but he wasn’t shown as his normal self untill the last film. Grima has a slimier look about him.
No, they look quite a bit alike, but they are different actors. (This is Andy Serkis, Grima Wormtongue is played by Brad Dourif)
