Yes… yes he does.
aww man, he’s not even purple anymore, it’s so fugging obvious he’s boba fett…
batman is blue in a mangina
Who is Vile?
Play your MMX games already, catch up with the rest of the world.
Megaman = fail.
Behold, the new Star Wars movie, Attack of the Trolls!
Morons like you shouldn’t be allowed to post.
Anyways, Vile was indeed based off of Boba Fett, and the Z-Saber was also based off the lightsaber. I’m a fan of both, and I think it’s a pretty cool reference.
Yeah i think i realized this within 5 minutes of playing the game back in 1993.
So then totallylookslike is SLOOOW?
And yes these 2 do look alike…
I didn’t read the story until my fifth time through, I was wondering why Boba Fett was attacking me with a mech.
Yeah, I think EVERYONE realized this back then.
This was intentional. I remember reading something a while back that a lot of things in MMX were based on Star Wars…look at Zero and his “Zero Sabre”…..
booooooo
Or Sigma’s sword.
Because of course, Vile was never intentionally designed to copy Boba Fett…oh, wait…
/me rolls his eyes.
booooooo again
Yup, intentional. In Japan, his name was even Vava (sounds like “Boba” to the Japanese ear).
Good to see that somebody else besides me remembers this fact!
Granted, that much similarity is probably why they changed his name for the English release. Capcom isn’t the only Japanese gaming company to make references to Star Wars. The Final Fantasy franchise has a “Biggs” and “Wedge” that show up in multiple games.
Doesn’t surprise me. That’s the same reason why the Street Fighter II bosses got all switched around. The fighter we know as Barlog is really M. Bison (Mike Bison) and it’s obviously a parody of Mike Tyson. Changed for the US releases for obvious reasons…
The Japanese are not so retarded that “vava” sounds like “boba” to them, since they do have both the sounds “bo” and “ba” in their syllabary. If they named him “Vava” as an homage to “Boba” it’s because it’s an homage and not plagiarism.
Japanese pronunciation of “Boba”: bow-bah
Japanese pronunciation of “Vaba”: vah-vah
English pronunciation of “Boba”: bow-bah(more correct) or bah-bah(more common)
Heh, I said “Vaba,” didn’t I? *facepalm* Vava, Vava, Vava-voom!
Wobbuffet?
FINALLY! Someone else noticed!
WOW who totally ripped off BOBA FETT!
Wha…? The Japanese RIPPED OFF something American and pretended it was their own?
Shocked…I am shocked. And so disappointed (LOL).
Well, sort of. They didn’t pretend it was their own. They made it their own character, yes, but they made no attempts to hide it, especially after the decision to even make him green.
Vile was BASED on Boba Fett!
But Fett still wins…
How can you say they look alike? they have helmets on.
ha!
And they just figured this out?
I like him…a little. Their helmets are almost the same! Wow. Reminds me of Jango Fett! Only he was blue not green.
You know, this is Vile/Vava Mk III, whereas Mk II was blue. Gasp?
The lookalike is completely intentional. When the X series came out Zero’s saber was meant to be a Jedi one. Vile was the English translation of Vava, who would be based off Boba.
Vile’s not really the English translation. It was changed to Vile for copyright reasons. Nothing may have been done if it was left alone, but I don’t think Capcom wanted to take that risk.
Star Wars:The Megaman Wars!!!LOL
