Had one of those…
Mine was yellow. It rocked!
Yep, I destroyed many a planet with mine.
I lost the keys to mine ……………..and in an hour my reply will be flooded by dumbasses that don’t get the joke…………
That’ a win, for me!
That’s a win, to me!
(I think this is the right way to say it, isn’t it?)
That radio’s pretty awesome.
THAT’S NO ALARM CLOCK!!!………….
Right. It’s a radio, silly.
Dont worry Moweopolis, I at least got the joke. Nice one!
IT’S A TRAP!
its called a ‘Panapet Radio’ for those who care
That’s no Panapet…
That’s a space station.
Hahaha this is a good one!
Mine was/is exactly like that. Now it’s useful as the most awesome paperweight ever. I wonder if Lucas or his effects team got the idea for the death star from that radio. Both are from the same decade.
does ANYONE out get get the history joke?! Besides me?
i DON’T get get the history joke. icefaerie95 in all your inifte wisdom please explain… wait – 95? are you 14? jesus you don’t even remeber the special edition re-releases in 1997 do you?
I’m tired of death star look-alikes.
I’m with you. It gets old after the 10th one.
The first iPOD. They’ve only gotten smaller and less futuristic looking.
mine was blue and I took it everywhere!
KYUUTE!
This website has proved to me that everything looks like the death star….
I want that radio.
I still have mine! It still works too.
Mine was green and my mom sold it in a garage sale…..broke my heart till I got my first real stereo, then I was all happy again!
That may have been the point.
Probably not, unless the Death Star was supposed to look like the radio.
I had a yellow one, my brother had the avocado green one. NO idea what happened to them…
Okay, I’m not sure which came first, but I’m sure one was inspired by the other, well, I tend to feel that the radio was probably inspired by the ‘death star’ considering how insanely popular Star Wars was in the 70’s and later.. I can’t imagine the ‘death star’ being inspired by a clock radio! Wouldn’t that be a trip if it was though?! Heeeeehhhhh….
So does anyone know exactly when that clock radio came out? That would be interesting to find out…
It wasn’t a Panapet, at least in the US, it was a Panasonic Ball-and-Chain Radio. And since I had one — a blue one — by 1970 (I’m sure of the date ’cause I drew a huge oil pastel picture of mine in 9th grade art class; very trendy) there’s no question that they well pre-dated all things Star Wars.
Coming out at the turn of the 70s makes it much more likely that it was inspired by the EVA pods from 2001.
You are listening to Death Star radio. Next on tonight’s broadcast…who fired first?
