Nah, it’s clearly the stunt wolf. All the actors had stunt-doubles, so when you see Xena fighting the wolf and you can’t see her face, it’s the stunt actress. This is a blooper, they let you see the face of the stunt wolf by mistake.
Actually, some wolves do in fact grow to maturity with blue or murky grey eyes – it’s not common, but it does happen.
It could just be ‘shopped to up the weirness. Light-colored eyes have always sruck me as creepy…
That’s not always the case. Wolf pups have blue irises that turn yellow or orange when they mature. The fur color can be a mutation due to interbreeding with the domestic dog.
It also is not rabid.
The only true way you can tell an animal is rabid or not is by looking at the brain. 8D
