Sometimes the order doesn’t matter so much, but in this case it clearly does. People compare things to other things they’ve seen before and think, “Hey, this new thing totally looks like this other thing I’ve already seen!” That’s the point of the site, not just to compare things that look alike, but to catch the reference, so that’s why the order usually matters.
I am tired of seeing these backwards. Since C3PO existed before Beyonce made this costume (and, possibly, even before she was born), then Beyonce looks like him *not* the other way around.
I think it was before she was born. Star wars Ep. 4 was released in ‘77.
Wiki says Beyonce was born in ‘81. So, yeah, 3PO was first.
And I feel really old…

Well, I am a teacher, and the reprehensible level of literacy and critical thinking repeatedly displayed on this site makes me grieve.
It’s not actually backward, though, as Beyoncé is alluding (not referencing, referencing is when you make an explicit referral to something alá a citation in a bibliography) to Lang’s Metropolis. So, if anything, C3PO looks like what Beyoncé looks like. That is, there’s a third thing they both resemble that is prior art.
Which is all to say that this entry fails on multiple levels.
The Robot in Fritz Lang´s Metropolis inspired George Lucas´ C3PO and was copied by Beyonce. Google it.
Lucas is such a revisionist who the hell KNOWS what he got from where? He says things and then revises them 10 years later and then 10 years after that says he never said that. The guy’s an insane prick.

I am a propbuilder and I did some work for beyonce and bid on that costume (i didnt win the bid) and all the reference was from frits lang’s Metropolis including the transformation, there were NO reference to star wars, however george lucas based 3po on Maria from Metropolis. also Metropolis is Not an obscure film but rather one of the most famous sci-fi movie of all time, even inspiring some of the art design for blade runner
