And yes, historically, men were the first people who wore high heeled shoes, though it was for practical purposes rather than fashion. But if you used Google you could find that out for yourself, so don’t take my word for it.
I know that, but I didn’t really know how to phrase my search…I was scared of getting a really odd fetish site. I’ve seen too many of those.
Alas, just the wikipedia link above. I have a book at home on the history of heels as well, but I can’t find it on Amazon to link to it. The (admittedly low) heels were initially designed for men’s riding boots, to keep feet from sliding through the stirrups, but then fashion took over and floofy Frenchmen took to wearing them at court, and they got higher and higher. By which time, of course, women were wearing them as well, for height as well as fashion.

I’ll also point out that a) some women actually love wearing shoes and boots like this (I do!) and b) no one expects anyone to be walking around doing the shopping and pushing a pram in them. They have an entirely different purpose.
Everyone who was worn these shoes says their much more comfortable then normal heels, because the sole is weighted it stops any “wobble” and it makes walking in them easy

Um, are you serious? A long pointy thing digging into your heel is definitely NOT comfortable. I personally always walk in tip-toes just because it feels more comfortable than the flat-foot thing. Its seriously not as hard as people like to make it out to be.

They just had a guy on The Daily Show, where he figured out that running shoes are what messes feet up for running, that in terms of foot health its better to be barefoot. I’ve seen the same thing before. We’ve learned to walk WRONG because of shoes.
