I have played this game but please keep in mind I was nine years old when it came out in either 95 or 96. All I knew about the game was that it was funny. Alot of the jokes went way over my head at that time. I need to play this game again.

Wow. Yuppers. I saw Army of Darkness 3 weeks ago and I made that same connection as soon as I saw the box art. I was all like “Hey that looks like Duke Nukem!” And that’s no lie.

Argh, I hated that movie. Evil Dead was such a wonderfully gritty horror flick, and along comes Jim freaking Carrey, making it all stupid and comical.

You REALLY need to watch it again, apparently. The first and second Evil Dead movies are parodies of the genre just as much as Army of Darkness.

yeah this was totally intentional, duke nukem borrows a bunch of classic bruce lines like “hail to the king baby.”
It was supposed to. DN was a spoof of Evil Dead, hence all the quotes (“Hail to the King”, etc)
