This happens so often here. The publishing company purchased a stock photo for their cover art. Maybe the same company or another company purchased the same stock photo for the other book. Happens frequently. Lets move on to something clever and interesting, shall we.
I’d think the publishing companies would be more clever and interesting.
Its apparent that they are not. Have seen a number of books and cd covers with identical cover art on this site. It seems to be lazy practice among certain publishers.
It’s likely more to do with economics. Original cover images cost quite a lot to purchase. Stock art is usually cheaper, one tenth the price in many cases. It’s cheaper still if you use it more than once. Expecting publishers not to be cheapskates is kinda like expecting a gangsta rap song to be about picking flowers for your mum’s birthday.

And anyone with rudimentary knowledge of french will tell you both book titles have water imagery – “La Dam du Lac”= Lady of the Lake”. “L’Immense Abandon des Plages” = Something about immense abandon on the BEACH.
Of course, we hapless Anglos with virtually no knowledge of French are out of luck. But then, are we really missing anything here?

It’s two different books, one(right) it’s the french version of an american classic book(Lady in the Lake). The second(left) is a new book by a young french canadian author.

The French recycling book cover photos shouldn’t be a shocker. They’ve been recycling condoms among themselves for decades.

And at least the French get to use condoms, which is something you probably rarely get a chance to do, posting racist comments on the Internet.

The French do have some scruples in recycling condoms it seems. According to an Immam I know who recently moved here from France, condoms used with animals are not recycled….
I must clarify – The Immam says condom used with animals – by Moslems living in France – are not recycled. He did not address French use of condoms with animals which he says is prevalent. Immam says Moslems recycle theirs due to being premature ejculators and not getting adequate mileage to justify disposal on a single usage.
