Other way around. The Dr. Who monster predates Jim Carrey’s Grinch by several decades.
This seems to be something to hard to understand for most people, which is a shame as its really annoying when everyone puts things the wrong way around, been commenting about it on several pictures so far but no one seems to understand anyways…
Who cares about the order, if one looks like the other, the other surely looks like the one. Like with that Robin Williams one, the farmer was said to look like Robin Williams as Williams is more notable despite being younger. Anyway, order doesn’t matter.
Also, they probably saw The Grinch first and then saw the Dr Who creature after and said, “hey, that looks like the grinch” , so it makes sense to order the way it is also.
That’s the first thing I thought of when I saw this. I said to myself “No, Jim Carrey’s Grinch totally looks like the Dr. Who monster.”
Dude, nobody cares which order they came in. If they did then they would look it up themselves.
the monster on the Doctor Who mag. is called a Zygon, its from 1975/6

Looks like the Zygon got his nose from Lon Chaney’s Phantom of the Opera.
Ahhh, “Terror of the Zygons”! My most favorite Who episode! Who couldn’t love lispy, effemanite, dog faced aliens and really bad stop motion Loch Ness monsters terrorizing London! Superb! And Harry gets shot!

Damn. Really gotta get around to watching the original Dr. Who episodes someday….I’ve only seen the new series–just got introduced to it last month, actually.
It’s sad, though, just how much Jim Carrey’s Grinch looks like the Dr. Who alien….Could they not have been more original? Y’know, made a green Christmas hating monster that looked a bit less like the alien?
I really don’t think they were basing it off of a creature in one or so episodes of Dr. Who. The movie sucked anyway so who cares, not like it won any oscars (I don’t think)
Perhaps not, but it does look a bit too similar for it to have been entirely coincidence, at least in my opinion.
They are just making the grinch look like the artist depiction in the child’s book. It’s quite the stretch to claim they looked for some crappy alien monster to base their grinch off of. This is merely coincidence, like TLLs are supposed to be
